Tuesday, July 7th, 2009Writing music has been a passion all my life, in the early 80s I got the recording bug and started with the fostex x15, later used cubase on the atari st and finally ended up using cakewalks sonar, though I have had very little success as far as money goes I still find writing and producing just as exciting now as I did 30 years ago, with the advancement of vst and the speed in which computers have grown ever more powerful the results you can achieve with home recording would have only been a dream when I first started, I have always been influenced by progressive rock, yet over the last 7 or 8 years I have been writing a lot of classical music. I have no idea what the future holds and even if I never make a fortune from a piece I will always be grateful to have been born with the urge to write and hope to continue until my dieing day, three of the tracks here have Dave Rhodes on vocals we recorded an album together and that was a very strange event, back in 2002 I had long since accepted I was not going to be in a successful band and looked on music as a fantastic hobby when out of the blue I had a record deal turn up on my doorstep, a friend had given a record company a demo of some songs I had recorded 3 years earlier, they liked it and had written to me asking for an album, at first I thought it was a wind up but it checked out to be the real thing, the record company [Prestige Elite Records] turned out to be the biggest independent record company in the uk. So I phoned the vocalist who was on the demo [Dave Rhodes] explained the situation and as a result spent the next nine months recording an album , which was no easy task as I was recording songs we had said goodbye to three years earlier and as anyone who writes will know its very difficult to get enthusiastic over material you had moved on from, but Dave and I got it done and Prestige Elite released it under the artists name ËJulias Dream’, the album was called ‘Hindsight’
